Your First Visit To First Baptist Dover

We are so glad that you are considering visiting First Baptist Dover, and we want you to truly enjoy your time with us. That's why we've provided some information about our schedule, campus, parking, childcare, and small group opportunities through Bible Fellowship.

At First Baptist Dover, we want you to feel at home, to be part of the family. In fact, we call our church a family of friends and a friend to the family. You'll be surrounded by a caring, loving family of friends who will help you and your family grow, share the good times, and help you shoulder the tough times. Whether you're a large family or a family of one, we invite you to see what our family at First Baptist Dover is all about.

What Do I Bring? If you have a Bible, bring it with you to church. A Bible will help you to follow along in Sunday School and in Worship.

How Do I Dress? Dress comfortably. Some attendees do wear their "Sunday best," but conservative, casual, comfortable clothes are appropriate as well. We encourage you to dress modestly and comfortably. While most people might not wear jeans to our morning service, neither will you find them in suits.

What about my children? Children are precious at First Baptist Dover. Taking to heart Jesus' own love for children, First Baptist Dover seeks to provide a comprehensive, caring ministry to children and their parents. Trained workers will see that your children are loved, nurtured, and cared for while they have fun, make new friends, and learn more about God's love for them.

The preschool wing is located in the south end of the education building on the first floor. Pagers are provided in the event that the nursery needs to contact you during Sunday School or the Church Service. Ushers can assist you in getting your children to their class or department.

Each group takes the timeless truth of God's Word and brings it to life-your life-for today. You'll also meet friends for life, people with common needs, people who will encourage you, rejoice with you, and pray with you.

When can I meet the Pastor? Guests are invited to meet with the Pastor before and after the Sunday morning service.

How do I become a member of First Baptist Dover? There are number of ways you can become a member of the First Baptist Dover family:

If you have never belonged to a church
All true churches are made up of believers in Jesus Christ. They are people who have totally trusted in Christ and what He did on the cross to pay for their sins, and have committed themselves, with the help of Christ, to honor Him in their everyday lives.
You are not saved by what you "feel", but by the promise of Christ to save you. If you can truly put your trust in the promise of Jesus, He will forgive your sins and you will receive the gift of eternal life.
You can make that decision by coming to the front of the sanctuary when the invitation is given at the end of our service and simply say to the pastor, " I want to put my trust in Christ as my Savior."
Following this decision, you will be baptized on a following Sunday by immersion and will then be a member of First Baptist Dover.

If you belong to another Southern Baptist or Missionary Baptist Church
You can join First Baptist by coming forward during the invitation and telling the pastor that you want to transfer your membership. We will write your former church, and they will forward your church letter to us.

If you are not sure you can furnish a letter.
If your letter have been destroyed by fire, your old church no longer exists, if you have been gone from that church so long that they may have removed your letter of membership, or you were a Baptist and joined another denomination and wish now to join our church, don't let this delay your joining us. Come forward during the invitation and say you want join by statement of your faith, briefly sharing your circumstances with the pastor.

If you belong to another denomination
You may come by baptism as an indication that you are willing to be in one accord with us. This in no way implies that you are not already a Christian, but relates to others that you believe First Baptist Dover is the church where God wants you to belong. Just come forward and tell the pastor that your are coming by way of baptism.

If none of these fit your circumstances
Feel free to call the church office and arrange a conference with the pastor. He will be glad to council with you concerning your special situation.
